Family norms in the last 50+ years have been shaken up quite a bit. The classic 'nuclear family'– with a stay at home mom that cooks and cleans, while dad goes off to his 9-5 job– used to be a norm, but nowadays, family structures look a little different. Without getting too into it, most people would agree that the only thing that's remained the same in family relationships, romantic relationships, and parenting styles, is that each parent is expected to contribute SOMETHING, whether it's financial or otherwise.
But some people still cling to the old ways without really understanding the fundamentals of it. If you're a stay at home parent, that doesn't mean you just get to stay at home and chill on the couch all day, usually that means you're working just as hard on keeping your lives together (by filling the fridge, driving the kids to soccer practice, and keeping the house clean).
You're basically still working, except you don't collect a paycheck every month.
In this next story you're about to read, one man realized exactly how much his fiancé was stuck in time on her idea of the family unit. Being parents of their own children and expecting to join their houses, you'd think that they would have had a lengthy discussion on how they planned to move forward prior to their engagement. Like many relationships, they failed to communicate and found themselves arguing over the dumbest thing: Shoes. Scroll onward to read more about a man who spent $300 on his daughter, opening his eyes to the reality of his future fiancé and saving himself the troubles that inevitably would have come from their less-than-perfect union. Next, here's an extra vegetal story of petty revenge that comes to us straight from the deli line, where a woman gets back at the couple who cut the line.
