70/80s Car Interiors Were Insane and We Want Them Back

Hopping into the time machine of automotive design, it's clear the 70s and 80s were an era like no other, especially when it came to car interiors. Think disco balls meet spaceship dashboards. It was a time of boldness, when car designers were seemingly trying to outdo each other with an ever-growing array of buttons, flashy lights, and oh-so-much velour. From tape decks to blinking LEDs, the inside of these cars felt less like being on the road and more like captaining a Starship.

Who said practicality had to be boring? Not the 70s and 80s. Each turn of the ignition was an adventure, with cars offering an overwhelming sensory overload. Switches that felt like they could launch rockets, dials that echoed sci-fi fantasies, and colors - oh the colors! Shades of browns, greens, and oranges that somehow made perfect sense back in the day. These were the interiors that didn't just transport you to a destination, but to another dimension.
