I had a coworker who sincerely believed that because she had a college degree and I did not, that She did not have to clean up after herself. We worked at an art studio. Seriously she thought she didn't have to clean her paint palette or anything.

So on days I didn't work, our supply would just be bathing in paint water. To prevent this, she suggested I come in after she was done on my days off and clean up after her. Because none of the rules applied to her because she had a degree

Print-Over• 22h Had a coworker who wanted me to get into work early to turn on the heating for him.. That did not happen. I would sit in my car until I saw him go in. His complaining about being cold warmed my heart. Reply 1.2k ...

ashimo414141. 15h My CEO asked this of me. I wait around back till he goes in, and he's kind of a soft f er so he's rarely prepared for any outdoor conditions. It's fun being nicely layered while he's in a polo and khakis, freezing his off waiting for the heat to work 2. 4165

Bullet_Maggnet • 22h Reminds me of that old FedEx commercial. Office setting, manager type explaining operation of copy machine to young suit n tie guy. He stops her and says something to the effect of "I'm an MBA, I don't make photocopies" She doesn't miss a beat. Calls out "Can someone show Brad here how to operate the copy machine?!" DreJDavis 21h It's worse than that. She says, "Ohhh you have an MBA. In that case I'm going to have to show you how to do it." It's then followed by the voice over saying "FedEx.com makes shipping so fast and easy even an MBA can do it." Although, FedEx just destroys your packages for fun but that's a different story. ... 281

happy_hatchetmaker OP 1d ● She's older with health issues. She is very loved in our community. I didn't want to be a jerk to her. It started with "you need to clean that up" which was ok when it was a practical mess, to huge piles of torn paper and cardboard to which I would have to crawl around to pick up. Her claim was that she was an instructor and I was not, so she believed I was there as her personal assistant (when you suggest unpaid work, I think that's another word). I put up with it for

LJski • 23h I suspect it wasn't the college degree as much as she was an instructor versus the college degree, and MAYBE she was led to believe, or people in the past had helped her clean up, so she didn't have to do that. Certainly not your job to do that. Reply 4181

happy_hatchetmaker OP. 6h It was very much classist. When we would receive tips, hers and the office manager's were received because they felt that they were being tipped for their experience and knowledge. When I was tipped, I had to "earn" it by physical work. She felt that since I earned the same as her, it was disrespectful to her years in school and her experience. She believed that I needed to work hard to deserve the same pay as her. My job did not require a degree. I was also being paid

happy_hatchetmaker OP. 6h I quit. Which ultimately insured her job, which I never wanted her to be without work. A young office manager was hired who had no societal obligations to this coworker. She also had a plan to make us all work harder. I have no clue to what all that has happened, but I'm sure it all worked out? 4 14 ↓
