There is something very tempting about giving a kid an iPad to shut them up. It's not easy being responsible for a kid all day long, and iPads can feel like a magical tool that enraptures young kids more than any other toy possibly could. Even if it's just to make a kid stop crying when they're in public, iPads can feel like a godsend for so many parents.
As much as iPads can seem like neutral entities, they can do harm to kids who have too much exposure to them at a young age. Imagine spending the first couple of years of your life without boredom, constantly being inundated with a series of flashy colors and lights before you have to go to school and pay attention to far less stimulating information. Although some see the "iPad Kids" debate as the next entry in a decades-long series of technology-based moral panics, others vow to put an end to it when they start their family.
