A nightmare scenario for any dog owner in the city.
Dog owners who live in a city have an entirely different list of dangers than someone who has a dog in the country or the suburbs. Country dogs usually have lots of land to run around on and their owners know almost everyone who lives around there. City pawrents have bustling streets filled with rushing cars and tons and tons of strangers surrounding them. That's why it's important to always have your dog leashed while in the city unless in a designated off-leash park and your dog is thoroughly recalled trained.
Accidents happen, however, and if your collar isn't snug on your pup, it's possible for them to accidentally slip out. That's what happened recently in an NYC subway. A person was walking with their small dog on the subway when they slipped out of their collar. Then the owner stepped onto a train car, but unfortunately, the doors closed quicker than both anticipated and the dog got left behind at the station. The owner looked in horror as they were taken away from their beloved pooch.
Fortunately, kind strangers on the station platform who witnessed this nightmare situation, immediately went to action and took care of the terrified little pup. One of the citizen stayed there with the dog, giving him lots of pets and words of reassurance until the owner was able to get back on the train and come get him. A terrifying situation for any dog owner! But a happy ending of reuniting nontheless.
