'So petty and so childish': Coworker rips employee's name down from decorations and throws it in the trash, employee figures it out

The reality of being an adult in the working world is that not everyone is going to like you. This can be especially hard to hear for the people pleaser of the world. As someone who once upon a time would identify as a people pleaser myself, I understand the mental and emotional adjustment that comes with learning that some people are just not going to be your friend. Perhaps this phenomenon has weighed on you since your school days, or perhaps you're only just realizing it now because you learned your coworkers were going out for drinks one day and you were not invited. Regardless of when you learned this, it's an important life lesson. The key is that even when a coworker doesn't like you, as long as they treat you with respect you both can go on your merry ways and move on.

    Co-Worker Removed My Name From a Decoration Because They Simply "Don't Like Me" For a little context, when there is a holiday or new season coming up, some of the nice ladies at my job like to put up cute decorations with EVERYONE'S name on it who works there.(A bunch of shamrocks with a person's name on each one for St. Patrick's Day etc.)

    Today I was informed by one of my work friends that back near Halloween time, a certain co- worker literally ripped the cute little ghost with my name on it off the wall, crumpled it up, and threw it it the trash.

    Now, I knew she didn't like me before I heard this, but I could never figure out why. I always offer to help her, ask her how she's doing, and even put a bunch of old kid's clothes together just because I heard her say she needed them. , I still planned to even after I found out she legitimately doesn't like me.

    Who does something so petty and so childish? Ripping my name down simply because you don't like me? There are plenty of people I work with that I hate, and I would NEVER do that to them! It was a simple act, sure, but it actually kind of hurt my feelings. This woman is 10-15 years older than me with multiple children, I just don't get how she could be so immature for literally NO reason???

    Immediately drop contact with this person insofar as it's possible within your workplace. Stop greeting her. Stop helping her. Stop giving her things. Make those efforts and alliances with other co-workers. Limit your interactions with her to "Yes" and "No". 2.0k Reply Share

    charlie2135 21 hr. ago Had a coworker actually sabotaging my job because he thought he should have gotten it. Spent years trying to get along and when I took the fall for a project gone bad was demoted to working alongside him.

    I had a coworker like that in my last job, I was perfectly pleasant to her but she basically ignored me right from the start. I even volunteered to make her birthday treat when no one else was stepping up but that didn't improve her opinion of me. She was perfectly pleasant and chatty to everyone else, just not me.     Disasterous_Ollie OP. 23 hr. ago Right?? Even if I did make her mad about something it would have have to been at some point before Halloween. It's almost December, and unless I somehow did something really horrible to her, why would she still be mad?
