Weekly Internet Roundup: Tech Layoff Clapbacks, Orange Peel Theory, and King Charles vs. Trisha Paytas

Hello, good, bad, and ugly people of Memebase. It's time for the Friday roundup of a few different viral events that have dominated the internet recently. In a typically varied fashion, we are going to be dealing with jobs, relationships, and potential reincarnation. Let's begin.

Revenge of the Tech Employee

As if January wasn't miserable enough, it's also the month when many workplaces love to fire their staff (it would be bad optics to do it before Christmas). The tech industry is particularly notorious for this, and everywhere from YouTube to Google has been axing staff now that Q1 is well underway.

However, the company that has been facing the most scrutiny this layoff season is web service company Cloudflare. Former employee Brittany Pietsch recorded herself getting sacked and protesting about it to management after numerous colleagues had revealed that they had lost their jobs earlier in the day.

While many people praised Pietsch for standing up to the man, others pondered what this would do for her future employment prospects. If the tech thing fizzles out, no doubt she could start a hustle as an unemployment influencer.

Would You Still Love Me if I Was an Orange?

If you feel the need to ‘test’ your relationship, that alone is probably a sign that things aren't going so well. It's not like that is going to stop an avid TikToker in search of content, though. One of the latest trends to sweep the platform is Orange Peel Theory, where people ask their partners if they can peel an orange for them and then see how they react.

The theory suggests that the quality of a relationship can be determined by how somebody reacts to being asked a favor for something you could easily do yourself. It may be paranoid, but at least its execution is slightly more logical than examining your crush for signs of micro-flirting.

The British Royal Family Vs. Trisha Paytas's Womb

No matter what your opinion on Trisha Paytas, you have to admit her hit rate when it comes to being the center of attention in the weirdest of ways is nothing short of phenomenal. Earlier this month, Paytas revealed that she was expecting a second baby girl with her husband Moses Hacmon.

The birth of her first daughter Malibu Barbie infamously coincided with the death of Queen Elizabeth II, leading many of the overly online to speculate that her child was the reincarnation of royalty

It was a crazy time on the internet, and now people are pondering if it might be time for round two after an announcement that King Charles III was to be hospitalized to have surgery on an enlarged prostate. I'm not sure if that's something that can be fatal at this stage but never say never.

That's everything for this week. Until next time, when we will no doubt have an all-new set of shenanigans to roll our eyes at. See ya!
