'PAY UR BILLS': Lawn care company gets even with neighbor who refused to pay for services rendered after six months, neighbor files police report

We would like to think that every Karen in this world has this kind of comeuppance, but the truth is that many entitled neighbors get away with their behavior because no one has the bandwidth to call them out. Thankfully, here we have a lawn care company in which the owner decided that he did, in fact, have the bandwidth to stand up to this neighbor. The neighbor had amassed a reputation for being Mr. Frugal, which I suppose isn't the worst kind of thing to be known for. That being said, refusing to pay for quality services that were already rendered just might be taking things a bit too far. Little did this neighbor know, he was messing with the wrong lawn care company.

  • This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/notimeforcheaters, who was an innocent bystander in this situation and who bore witness to the entire back-and-forth between the frugal neighbor and the lawn care company. It got to the point where after the neighbor kept delaying and delaying this payment, the lawn care company owner decided to get some epic petty revenge by spelling out the words “PAY UR BILLS” on their lawn. Honestly, that sounds like some incredible dedication to the payback. Who wouldn't hire these guys after that kind of commitment alone?

    Lawn care company purposely neighbors yard over payment dispute "ruined" my Title makes the situation look more serious than it is. The situation in question happened to my neighbor. All of the facts were either conveyed by the affected neighbor, another mutual neighbor who uses the same lawn care company, or witnessed by myself.

    Said neighbor has been disputing the amount he owes them (somewhere between $200-$400) over the services rendered. He has owed this amount for 6 months - which was when said company last performed any services.

    My neighbor is (you can read the message from the street) and wants to file a police report. I think his ego is damaged more than anything else. If he didn't have a known history of being stingy I'd feel for him, but because of this I think the situation is quite hilarious.

    ETA: The w spray utilized was along the lines of round up. The area in question should be able to be re-sod for less than $75, or with a bag of grass seed that costs $15.

    Alien-2024 22 hr. ago The neighbor might be a but that does not automatically make him wrong here. But at the same time, the lawn company may be right. In the end, all you have is he said/he said. Even if the neighbor wrong, the lawn care company was wrong to do this. But society has gotten to where people think if someone does something wrong, it's somehow OK if the ither person did something wrong too. That's not the case.

He had a signed contract before starting work stating that he reserves the right to remove work if payment isn't made within a certain time so he did. Cop's came and when he showed them the contract they even kept the owner from getting on his way
