Entitled Christmas Eve woman is back! S I posted last year (https://www.reddit.com/r/Entitled People/comments/tzdbnp/entitled woman wants church choir to a dd a song/) about a woman who came up to the choir loft 5 minutes before mass on Christmas Eve to request a song be played.

Well, it is that time of year again and our choir is back to practicing twice a week to prepare. This week, our choir director let us know that someone called the parish office and left a very long voicemail complaining about the choir. In this message, she stated that she and her husband go to mass every week and she has been extremely disappointed to not hear "Mary, Did you know?" every week for Advent. According to this woman, she believes that the song should be played every single mass duri

At the mention of the song name, a couple of us look at each other and say "Wasn't that the song the woman from Christmas Eve requested last year?". Apparently, it is the same woman. For the record, she has never spoken to our choir director/organist since that evening almost a year ago

(although her message implied that she had talked to him about it in the last week). And several of the choir members noted that they hadn't seen her in church in a long time. It is possible she attends a Saturday mass where the choir sings on Sunday. However, the organist and person who records/live streams the masses (who is also in the choir) are at mass both Saturday and Sunday and haven't seen her either.

We all had a laugh thinking about this woman stewing on this song for an entire year and holding a grudge against our choir director. We are also curious to see if she will offer a repeat performance on Christmas Eve this year.

As a final note for those who don't know, the church can only play certain songs. They have a license for some songs but this one is not included.

r/r/Entitled People Posted by u/wa_geng 2 years ago s Entitled woman wants church choir to add a song to the mass starting in 5 minutes After living 3000 miles away from my family for 20 years, I moved back to my hometown to be closer to my family. As part of this, I joined the church choir as something to do with my mom. While I am practically agnostic, my parents regularly attend church and my mom has sung in the choir for about 10 years.

This is a Catholic church so the big two holidays are Christmas and Easter. This means the masses around this time tend to be more crowded. For the choir, it also means we have more singing to do. In addition to singing with everyone else, we have a few pieces we sing on our own. We spend quite a bit of time practicing all of the music we sing, especially as many of us (myself included) cannot read music well.

It was Christmas Eve and for this mass, the choir sings a few songs about 20 minutes before the mass starts since many people arrive early. We had just finished our set of music when a woman came up into the choir loft. I'm not very active in the church so I didn't recognize her but figured she must be relaying a message or something about the mass. However, no one recognized her.

She had stopped by for the service and after hearing us asked the choir director to add some music to the mass. Our choir director politely informed the woman that the music for the mass was already determined. Due to covid, they had removed hymnals so all music for the mass was printed on a sheet for attendees. She kept insisting that her song was so pretty and that he (the choir director) should just add it in. He had to tell her no a few more times and then ask her to leave as mass was about

I know it's not as entitled as many other stories but it struck me as so odd that someone would ask to change music for one of the biggest masses of the year 5 minutes before the mass started. EDIT: Thank you kind Redditor for the award. It's my first ever!

wa_geng OP 2 hr. ago That's cool. I have never heard the song until I looked it up. Feels like most of the music we sing is pre- 1900's. This year, we have one song in Italian, one in Polish, and several in Latin.
