Often, in these situations, they may be right, and workers may be forced to stay on, begrudgingly working to the new lows that have been set to take advantage of their desperation. But, sometimes, it happens that they have vastly overestimated the control they hold, and the bounds of that power are far closer than they've anticipated. Sometimes, they just push things too far, and workers no longer care that they need a job—just as long as they're not working here. At this breaking point, it takes one worker pushing that first domino to trigger a mass resignation that puts their operations at a standstill.
