Air travel is almost never an enjoyable experience. Sure, it may be exciting because it's taking you away to exciting places or home to visit loved ones—but the actual process of the travel itself is tolerable at best. Hours of waiting in endless queues and crammed uncomfortable seating, all the while a vague threat hanging over you that you may miss your flight (or have it canceled) and be stuck waiting at the airport for even longer. The whole experience is tedious and causes a lot of undue stress that can cause people to do some pretty wild things.
It really makes you realize how poorly most of us manage our stress and emotions, and it's no surprise that we see some crazy behavior on airlines. Even if you fly once a year, chances are pretty good that you've seen some supremely antisocial behavior; so what, then, have people who make their living by working 40+ hours a week in the air witnessed?
