r/pettyrevenge Posted by u/lucifermorningwood_ 17 hours ago Uno-reverse to a threat. I managed a cellphone store for a couple years. The leadership was toxic; constant threats of write ups, email blasts to the whole company of your failures, constant belittling in front of my employees, etc. This

and the many, MANY, ignorant and entitled customers (one threatened to punch me in the face over a SIM card replacement...smh) caused my mental health to rapidly decline. Outside of work my behavior became very self destructive. I

needed to get on medication for and anxiety, go to therapy, and reflect in what was best for me. My territory manager was in my store one day and I informed him that I will be giving my two weeks and why. He said "you're seriously leaving? Do you already have another job lined up? You might get a bonus soon." I said

belongings and left. Never turned back, and never felt better. They were understaffed and had no real prospects of management, and no management at the other location in town, so I am sure it was longer than 2 weeks for him.

BeautifulPhantom1 - 17 hr. ago Stupid to threaten someone with that and expect them to stay and actually honor a 2 week notice. Guess he FAFO. Good for you. Hope you found a job that was much better, both for your mental health and management.

sysadminbj 17 hr. ago "You might get a bonus soon" That's rich... That manager must think their employees are too dumb to know that's obviously ..I would have countered with "You might find the ability to be a decent leader soon too. Let's see which one happens first." 586 Reply Share ... DynkoFromTheNorth 16 hr. ago Nice! Or: Yes, big emphasis on 'might' there.

Zoreb1 14 hr. ago It they don't have a history of providing bonuses, yep. Some places do and people wait until their bonus has been received to quit. As a result, some places pro- rate bonuses, so if you quit 6 months before they are do you get half of it. This is to ensure they get proper notice to hire someone or reassign work. As for the threat, in the US one can quit at any time, so it tends to be feeble and backfiring. Many companies will just and pay the two weeks. you out

SheWho LovesToDraw - 21 hr. ago Yeah, you and every other employee *might* get a bonus soon, but it's more likely just going to be a cheap- pizza party while the higher-ups brag about record profits and then say they don't have the budget for a proper pay raise for the people who earned those record profits. Good on you for not only leaving but for slapping that "manager" with their own very unprofessional and uncalled for threat.

lucifermorningwood_ OP 16 hr. ago Best part of this! The CEO and higher ups were all "stressed" that we weren't selling enough and doing badly as a company and may have to make cuts.. blah blah. So it was the Store Managers fault, obv. But EVERY YEAR! They would take most of not all of corporate staff and -20-30 employees AND their plus ones on an all expenses paid vacation to Mexico at a high end resort.

abarthman 16 hr. ago I really hope that this actually happened. I've put up with toxic work environments when I was younger, because I had bills to pay, mortgage payments, etc, and felt that I just had to it up and count to 10. Nowadays, I would be considerably less tolerant.

lucifermorningwood_ OP. 15 hr. ago It did. Luckily my friend let me nanny for her and my newborn godson for a couple of months to keep my lights on. Things just work out if you let them.
