r/pettyrevenge. Posted by u/throwawayname46 20 hours ago Left the boot of an Uber open after driver treated me and my family with contempt I was looking for an Uber Premium to schlep 3 adults and 2 kids to the airport, alongwith an assortment of luggage.
  • 02
The driver showed up in a small vehicle and refused to admit that he cheated me by registering his stinking small vehicle as a Premium. He did the bare minimum to figure out how everything will fit together, and while we were very uncomfortable, he had the audacity to stop the vehicle for gas shortly before we reached the airport.

At the end of the trip, he kept inside the car and looked the other way while I got down and got all my luggage out. While leaving, I decided not to shut the boot. Walking away, I turned around to stare at him and gloat that he had to step out of his vehicle to close it. Totally worth the one star!

Edits: (1) shut* the boot :D, (2) XL wasn't available, (3) One of the 5 passangers was a 10 month old baby, (4) This didn't happen in the US. Here in the east we have different norms and different Uber experience. But petty revenge brings the same kind of joy :D

Edit: surprised about the amount of hate. I take comfort in the fact that my rider rating is 4.77, so maybe I am not as much a "total human" and "entitled " as this thread wants me to believe. Please comment on my behaviour if yours is 4.78 or above.

AD ODMtesseract 15 hr. ago Good story. My grandmother did something similar when taking a taxi home from a medical appointment. The driver drove poorly and was and didn't budge to help her as she has some mobility issues. Upon leaving the car, she told him he was a very man and left the door open so as to force him to actually get out and close it. Lmao good for her.

Magoo69X 20 hr. ago Did you tell Uber that he was misrepresenting his vehicle? Reply Share 1.1k throwawayname46 OP 20 hr. ago I suppose I got busy with my trip soon after, but I should have done that.

craftingfingers 19 hr. ago It's worth trying, I did a similar complaint through the app and got the whole trip refunded without even asking. It's apparently a common issue if someone is cheating the system with multiple drivers under one profile. That was a couple years ago though!

ThandiGhandi 13 hr. ago Yeah I reported a driver for texting and driving once. Didn't think I would get a refund but I did. 71 Reply Share Calealen80 11 hr. ago I reported a guy who was literally watching the news as he was driving. Not listening, watching. He had a huge tablet on his dash. ...

Large Strawberry_167 14 hr. ago As a former taxi driver I can confirm off the that this is a cracking way to driver. I've had people leave the back passengers door open and it is infuriating. I probably deserved it too.

dasus 4 hr. ago As a former (3rd gen) taxi driver, if there just was time and it was suitable, I'd get up and open the doors. Sometimes at night with drunk people they're in such a rush that there's no time to. But for OP's ride I definitely would've helped. The driver definitely deserved it.

bobber18 9 hr. ago Had an Uber driver pick us up (we had luggage) and his trunk (boot) was filed with groceries. "I just went to Costco" he explained.

00 MelHasDogs 20 hr. ago Bruh, Premium is not the same as XL... And Uber sets the class of the vehicle, not the driver. You are the one who I up in this situation. 169 Reply Share Windk86 20 hr. ago but him stopping at the gas station earns him a bad review, specially if people are going to the airport

Atomaardappel 20 hr. ago I don't feel that stopping for gas mid trip is doing everything right. Drivers should ensure they have enough fuel for the trip before they accept it. Other than that, I agree. OP ordered the wrong type of car for their needs.

_cansir 19 hr. ago I mean after having a karen customer complain about how premium means large vehicle in their head...i understand why the driver stopped to fill his 3/4 tank of gas right before the airport. 15 Reply Share russbam24 13 hr. ago Definitely, but it's not "doing everything right".

Strange-Reindeer-398 19 hr. ago In the driver app there's a checklist for why you are cancelling the ride. Party wouldn't fit is one of the reasons. You can cancel for that reason and not be negatively affected. 16 Reply Share throwawayname46 OP 19 hr. ago I canceled, booked again, got the same guy. ...

cargo_bike 17 hr. ago Uber Driver here. I don't get a say in what my vehicle is classified as. That is entirely decided by the company, which is based on the year, make, and model of the vehicle registered with them. There is no driver input on the matter. The vehicle that showed up very likely is not the vehicle they registered with Uber.

Calealen80 11 hr. ago Haha 4.97 here....drivers here wouldn't even touch you at 4.7. Literally, they would not pick you up at all, period, ever. So you bragging about it is a bit amusing. Don't get me wrong, I am fully in agreement with your petty revenge, I hate it when they lie about their vehicle size.

Silent Horror_9099 1 hr. ago I actually opened to check what my rating was before commenting XD its a 5 lol what you did is perfectly understandable and if I was in your place I would have caused more ruckus. cause what if you didn't fit and uber drivers usually come down and help with the luggage so the fact he didn't do that holy the disrespect.
