If you're in the habit of learning about Gen Z slang, you have probably heard one particular piece of advice being repeated. It's the assertion that 'delulu is the solulu', i.e. being delusional is the best way solve all your problems.

It's a theory that holds some weight, seeing as it is just a sillier spin on fake it 'til you make it. At the same time, though, there are instances when being more aware of cold hard reality would be better. Your boss probably isn't going to overlook you coming in late for the forth time this week, and that dream date isn't suddenly sending you one word answers to your texts because they're so overwhelmed by their love for you.

There's no escaping it, life's tough! That's why we have memes to ease the pain. While they offer us escapism, their existence is a reminder of why we need that in the first place. It's time to redirect the delulu.
