Stressed Hagfish Slime All Over Oregon Highway Turning One Work Commute Into A Slippery Tale Of Slime and Punishment

Sorry boss, we can't come in today, some hagfish got stressed and slimed all over the road, and now we can't get to work! On the list of weirdest excuses to get out of work, this has to be one of the weirdest, although, it is a real one! In 2017. a truck carrying 7,500 pounds of hagfish (similar to eels), overturned on the highway, spilling the fish and all their slimy secretions all over the road. Hagfish, also known as "slime eels" produce a slimy substance when stressed, and being packed into containers and transported hundreds of miles sounds stressful!

Although no serious injuries happened as a result of the accident, the whole slippery situation did create quite a ruckus on the internet. A true tale of slime and punishment, if you ask us.
