Posted by u/InfiniteMaf "If you have any free time it should be spent working for us, because we pay you a salary." Ok, then I quit. Got called by HR one day after someone there noticed I work on weekends doing gigs totally unrelated to my normal job. Normal job office is open M-F only. After I told HR I wouldn't stop bc it's outside of office hours and not a conflict of interest (it's not even close to the same field), an executive called me and said what's in the title after explaining to me I

Sent my letter of resignation to HR right after I hung up with the exec. They tried to convince me to stay. When that didn't work they explained to me how I could never find another employer that would pay me the same. Only took me a few weeks to find a new job. I make less in total now, but if you break down to an effective hourly I make much more per hour. No longer need to work 60+ hour weeks with a maniac ceo who gives out daily fire drills and expects you to drop everything to get something

Fock that old place. Edit: Wow didn't expect this to blow up. Thank you all for the comments. Many confirm even more I made the right choice! Edit 2: To clarify I was doing work on the weekends in an area I am personally interested in. Nothing to do with the company or it's industry at all. I didn't do it for the money. I just happened to be getting paid for something I like doing. To those asking me to name the company sadly I can't and won't. They are known to be litigious even against Glassdo

The_Passive_Fist Its equal parts disturbing and disgusting the way some people think they own you just because you work for them. ... Them. 9.0k InfiniteMaf OP Right? Cool dude I like my family I never want to do that. 1.7k

Sklimpy_McPastajeans I always love that bit of emotional abuse they pull. "Good luck finding a better job". haven't you heard? "Nobody wants to work". There are more jobs than people to fill them, by that logic. Good luck replacing ME 4.2k fdc7719 "Dear Former Boss, I wish to extend my gratitude for your well wishes in finding a better job! I was able to find a position where I am appreciated and my personal time out of work is respected. If I had ever had any doubt about leaving your company, y

critiqu3 I had to fight the same battle when it came to volunteering in my spare time. My job wanted to know why I won't work Saturdays, which are completely optional. The awful HR guy asked me if the other job was paying me better. His wording was sarcastic like "well gosh they must be paying you better for you to turn down overtime with us". Basically he tried bullying me into changing my mind. I put my foot down and said it doesnt matter because I TOLD YOU PEOPLE in my original interview that

Sunsent_Samsparilla. Jesus Christ. That guy sounds like he belongs in the f king 1800's. Seriously, that's some f. king mining town logic right there 1.0k redditreallysuckscok Ebenezer: I suppose you'll be wanting the whole day off tomorrow as usual. Bob Cratchit: If quite convenient, sir. Ebenezer: Every Christmas you say the same thing. And every Christmas it's just as inconvenient as the Christmas before. Good night. 432
