There's nothing freakier and more haunting than the moment you first saw the eye of Sauron in the LOTR. The lidless, flaming eyeball that watched Frodo Baggins on his quest to destroy the One Ring would be a sinister sight to see in the depths of Mordor, but here in the real world–in Las Vegas of all places–the eye of Sauron takes on a new hellacious form. Sin City has erected one of the weirdest buildings to date, beating out the Luxor with its odd shape and general strangeness when they created the MSG Sphere.
Stationed in the dead center of the Las Vegas strip, the Sphere has not only been an engineering marvel but has also recently become a beacon to LOTR fans around the world, sporting the creepiest looping video to date that pays homage to Middle Earth's most evil maiar–Sauron. Naturally, Lord of the Rings fans have taken things in stride, commenting on the irony and hilarity of the Sphere being turned into a giant palantír (FOOL OF A TOOK), but also taking note that Las Vegas may be the rightful home of the slayer of Celebrimbor.
