'[He] cooked that nights' ramen in river water': 25 Boy Scouts tell the wildest things that happened on their camping trips

These scouts are lucky to have survived these camping trips full of mishaps. They gained the memories of a lifetime, and they're sharing them today in reply to @paynushurts' Twitter question: "What was the 'incident' at your summer Boy Scout camping trip?"

The answers were wide-ranging and completely hilarious. Some people shared stories from when they were little kids, while others had their craziest times happen as teenagers. 

Going on a camping trip with your scouting troop is a great way to bond with your friends. However, kids get up to a lot of trouble when they're left alone for even a few minutes. They just want to have fun! But since they're teens with underdeveloped brains, they do things like figuring out which bug sprays or sunscreen sprays are flammable. One kid decided to throw a rock at a wasp nest just for S&Gs: another prime example of the "act now, think later" mentality of teenagers. 

In the moment, a lot of these campers probably weren't happy with their friend's shenanigans, but the memories will last forever! Things are always funnier in hindsight, after all.

    F#A#∞, fka @cooperc While all the adults were away one of the older guys got a can of lighter fluid to make the fire bigger. Flame crawled up the fluid, he freaked, and dropped it. He saw there was a flame at the edge of the can and went to stomp it out, missed, and hit the can, shooting flames out

    Alan Morl @Alan Mor Big gathering witha ton of troops. Next site over at another troops fire, the kids added a log wrapped in a poison ivy vine. Burning it aerosoled the poison ivy. Kid went into anaphylactic shock after breathing it had to be air lifted to the hospital. I never heard more.

    Union ste @sovietpla Caught the latrine on fire. at the bottom Like the was burning for hours. Someone bought all the fun dip and resold it at 100% markup. We caught 3 trout and a pot of crawfish but the adults told us we couldn't eat them, so we had an illegal cookout after lights out.

    Andrew M @AngryRe I remember one kid climbing up a tree that couldn't hold his weight, the branch broke and he fell. I think he ended up being alright but I'm amazed he didn't injure anything lol.

    Mike Lars @MikeLars it rained all trip, and during the night it began pouring, so much that water was flooding through our campground. my friend and I hated camping, we hid in our tent playing pokemon and eating pringles while all the dads were outside frantically digging emergency drainage

    Ethan But @Butler Et A guy in my group threw a whole can of sunscreen into the campfire on the last day of camp and his mom arrived on site just as he set off a mini explosion and screamed at him. My friend jumped in the nearest hole. He said there was ringing in his ear for the rest of the day.

    ZZ @zzfroms Back in 2016 one of the counselors got fired for allegedly stealing a laptop, so 2/3rds of the staff quit in solidarity. The last 2 days of camp went from the typical no phones no free time boy scout summer camp to everyone just chilling by the lake and playing Pokémon Go.
