The Best Animal Memes of the Week (February 24, 2024)

Everybody loves animals, but not everybody loves all animals equally. The most cogent dichotomy is the cat person vs. the dog person. I don't wish to make any sweeping generalizations about what kind of person you are based on your preferred common house pet. After all, most of us who grew up with dogs like dogs better, and those with feline friends in our homes tend to feel positive toward them. But I can't help but notice those stereotypical patterns emerging of dog people being insufferable extroverts and cat people being quietly annoyed with said dog people. Maybe I've just been watching too many reruns of Garfield and Friends, and the Garfield-Odie dichotomy is rotting my brain. Whatever the case may be, I'm proud to be a dog person surrounded by cat people who want me to shut up. Whether you like cats, dogs, or reptiles, these animal memes are here for you.

    Pope Gregory back in 1232, decided cats were evil and were associated with witches and the devil. So for almost 100 yrs they tried to kill every cat they saw, and also killed people who tried to keep cats. Because of the shortage of cats the rat population exploded, and so did the bubonic plague that the rats carried. Almost a third of the European people died during this time. Once again, nothing has killed more people than organized religion.
