Introverts don't necessarily hate all social interactions. What we do dislike are those pointless chitter-chatter conversations that start with, "Hi, how are you?' and end with a million over-generalizations and partial truths. If we're going to be spending our social battery on conversation, it might as well be worth something more than just a 'good, how are you' automated response trail.
So if an introvert ever considers you their friend (or at least a person they can tolerate being around once every 3-4 months), that means that you're not a boring, cookie-cutter socialite with sand for brains! Hooray! As an introvert, we pride ourselves on our ability to pick out which people (or creatures) we're willing to spend our time with. At any social gathering, it's most likely going to be the homeowners cat or perhaps a goldfish in the bathroom, but occasionally, an introvert will befriend an actual human person who has more to say than your average small-talker.
