I don't trust people who claim that they can't cook. I understand that very few of us are ever going to be master chefs who can whip up a Baked Alaska without breaking a sweat (it was the dish that required level 10 cooking skill in the Sims 2, after all). However, how difficult can it be to follow a basic recipe? Assembling a grilled cheese or boiling an egg is even easier when you have step-by-step instructions holding your hand.
This isn't to say that cooking is always easy, or that it's impossible to make mistakes. Quite the opposite, almost all of us have faced a kitchen disaster at one point or another. That's part of the reason why it makes such an attractive topic for memes. While almost anybody can learn to cook, perfection isn't something that happens overnight. We thank ourselves when we know how to make tasty food, though.
