Hey all you dog lovers! We all secretly wish that we could take home every dog we see at the street corner adoption events and the local dog shelters, but logistically it's just not feasible (or responsible). However, some dogs just touch our hearts when they're looking at us with big ol' eyes through the chainlink cage fencing of their temporary homes and there's nothing we can do to fight the urge to save them. Maybe it's a hooman's hero complex, but maybe some dogs are just special enough to captivate our morality and guide us to do the right thing...
...Which is exactly what happened to the dog hero in our next story, Kesley McDonough, a woman who fosters dogs and saves them on their last day in the pound. When a dog is at the end of the road, Kelsey is the gal they hope to see walking through the gates of their doggie prison.
Recently, Kelsey went viral for sharing her story of saving a senior dog, an 8-year-old shepherd with a serious case of neglect. Having never known the love of a hooman or the safety of a home, this dog's transformation and his second chance at life is truly heartwarming.
Scroll onward for the entire triumphant tale of how one dog's last day became the first day of the rest of his life.
"Look at him. I swear, these dogs just deserve so much. He's such a good boy. He's so scared. He's just shaking back there. But he's gonna be okay and he's sage now. And if you can please just like, adopt or foster, you can save these dogs' lives.
It was his last day and he's gonna be safe now. He's going to the best home. Oh man, he's gonna be so loved. It's just like, such a good day. I'm so happy. Onto a new life."
