Be careful what you wish for, boss!
It's common for bosses to have strange rules and regulations; nine times out of ten, they are tied to a bizarre superiority/inferiority complex. However, we often find that bosses misinterpret perfectly normal behavior as disrespectful, and that's when this becomes an issue. It's rarely insubordination; in fact, most of the time, employees are so laser-focused on their tasks and responsibilities that they do not have their boss's emotions at the top of their minds.
This boss was annoyed by having to walk three feet over to her assistant's desk to ask her a question. Her assistant had her headset on, listening to an audio transcript of an important meeting for a project. The boss called her name several times to no response and then proceeded to yell at her in front of the whole office. But she didn't stop there. She then immediately enforced a new rule that no one was allowed to wear headsets in the office anymore. Well, the assistant needed to listen to that transcript in order to complete their work, so naturally, some well-deserved malicious compliance ensued.
