The Oscars were this week, which is one of the best times to be on Twitter. I always watch it every year with a group of friends, and the best part is hearing everyone's jokes. It's one of those rare monoculture events that gives everyone common ground to make jokes about. There's always some line flub, or memorable acceptance speech, or odd celebrity moment that makes everyone want to weigh in on Twitter. This year it was all about Oppenheimer's win, Messi the dog from Anatomy of a Fall, and Al Pacino's hilariously confusing reading of the best picture envelope. Sure, it's a quasi-meaningless Hollywood charade, but that's what Hollywood is for.
