Being annoyed is a terrible feeling to have. It implies that your peace has been disrupted, but not so drastically that you get to have a big, movie-score-appropriate emotion like anger or sadness. Your natural order of things has been shaken up, but if you point it out there's a chance you come across as peevish and a killjoy, or even worse, just get completely ignored. As if that wasn't enough, irritation is one of the most common emotions many of us have. We can't win.

The one saving grace of this entire situation is when you find somebody who shares the same annoyances that you do. Then you get to complain together, which might be negative but at least it's an enjoyable kind of negativity.
