‘I'm done': Overworked employee finds out that the job they've been hired to do doesn't exist, boss was using them to do her own job

Some stories make it really hard to decide where to begin explaining what is going on, but let's give it a go.

The person who shared this story (OP) has been working with a certain company for about 7 months. From the first day, it was clear something was off, as OP's boss kept giving them more and more responsibilities, even though they were new, and definitely didn't get extra pay for all the additional work they got. Then, other employees kept quitting, and guess who had to take over their workload? Yep, our dear OP. The real gem though, is when OP discovered that the job they were initially hired to do, didn't even exist. It was simply a way for the boss to have someone do everything that she didn't want to do herself.

    dnmnc. 22 hr. ago Check your contract. It's still a legally-binding document. You will be entitled to what it says there and if they want to change your work outside of that, they might have to create a new one to replace it

    which you would have to agree to. It's not "goodwill" to pay you what they have legally stated they would compensate you. How they managed to get a contract done for something that isn't supposed to be there

    My contract is in the office so I'll be having a look tomorrow but I hated how my regional made me feel like Oliver begging for crumbs when it was money I earned.
