We often forget that there are many animals that find their way into our lives and not just the standard cat, dog, hamster, fish or parrot, that can be picked up in the pet store. From time to time mother nature sends her children for us hoomans to care for when she can no longer provide for them, and today we are taking a moment to celebrate and observe the curious cases of the weird and wild stories of the unique pets hoomans have to shake up your Thursday.

From the grocery store employee in chilly Canada who had a four foot alligator as a pet, chilling in a kiddie pool, to the anti-redneck who saved a nutria from a flame grilled fate and showed it love instead, to the rodeo clown who hung out with a wolf and a mountain lion after a long day of playing with bulls, to the two tortoises who scared the living daylights out of the cable guy. These animals stories are the pawfect way to get your head cleaned out from the monotony of daily life and remember that we live in a big, big world.

Well, this is what you call playing with fire. Or at the very least playing with farts. What an intense amount of trust or disregard it takes to bring this ticking time bomb into your home. Just imagine what would happen if the neighbors had a fireworks party… utter chaos.

Now, this is on the more reasonable side of the scale, for trash pandas are not all too dissimilar from trash kittens. So the idea that a man would casually open his door to trick or treaters with a raccoon on his shoulder is rather sweet, actually. Maybe we should be working towards normalizing having a raccoon as a pet…
