As fans, we usually latch onto the lore of the main characters of any universe. For Lord of the Rings lovers, that means we're obsessed with Aragorn, Frodo, Gandalf, and probably even Sauron. But with a story that's as deep and rich as this Middle Earthian tale, many of the 'fringe' characters have just as much backstory as the main guys. That means that LOTR fans can be extra obsessed and extra captivated by the story as a whole and not just fixate on the main heroes.
Consequently, that meant that this week, a couple of wholehearted fans got into a scuffle online with a particularly uneducated meme-maker–but don't worry, the true LOTR lore won out and the fans brought to light the most underrated love story in the entire saga. You may be familiar with Faramir steward of Gondor and Prince of Ithilien? You know, Sean Bean's brother whose father eats a tomato and then tries to light him on fire? Well, at the end of the One Ring story, he and another character get together romantically. You might remember Eowyn, the shieldmaiden and Lady of Rohan… Well, they fall in love and this jokester thought it would be funny to talk some smack.
Well well well, he learned the hard way not to mess with LOTR fans.
One thing is for certain: Faramir potentially loved Eowyn so much because he was never forced to eat her stew… But who are we to speculate? Scroll to read the wholesome reaction of LOTR fans (both of the books and the movies) who love the love story of a couple of fringe characters.
