Although, understandably, some policies can't be changed or eased, there should always be room for consideration. Sometimes, even though on paper the policy makes total sense, certain cases prove that there can be exceptions from time to time.
Much like the case in this Reddit story. OP (original poster), booked a hotel room a year in advance for next week, which happens to have a solar eclipse event that is highly anticipated. Because of that, when OP booked their room, the room was practically free, and now it is X5 the price. But when OP learned that they couldn't actually use their room they tried to cancel the reservation but were met with an unreasonable cancellation fee. Even after OP tried to explain to the hotel that they would actually make a lot more money if they let them cancel the room, they were still denied.
