'You can't do this': Irresponsible dude abandons cat with friend, then refuses to answer calls for 3 months or pay for cat's vet visit

One dude was the worst kind of friend you could have. Let's call him Ken. See, Ken had a friend by the name of… let's say, Scott. Ken and Scott were buddies, and when Ken got himself into a tight spot at the ripe age of 28, Scott let him sleep at his place (for free), bought him groceries, and even took care of his cat. All of which he really didn't have to do. Ken didn't work, didn't want to look for a job, and one day, disappeared, leaving his cat with Scott, who didn't particularly want his cat.

What are you going to do when your friend abandons their animal and dumps the responsibility on you? It wasn't easy, and Scott didn't know what to do. That's when this cat got sick… and needed a vet visit, ASAP. But Scott wasn't rich, and the cat wasn't his, and he didn't want to pay for a vet visit for a cat that wasn't his.

I've seen this happen before. My friend was taking care of a cat for another friend while they were on vacation. She then didn't hear anything back from them after they were supposed to return and reached out multiples times but never got a reply so the cat became hers. The original owner tried to come back 3 months later

I'll think long and hard about how to send a message that conveys that, but that I know he won't respond to. Thanks for the info. My cats are affectionate, outgoing, and will follow along to wherever the people are, even just to sleep in the same room we are in. They love the adults, the kids, the dog.     BWebCat 20 hr. ago At risk of offending by giving advice where none was asked... You may want to create a cover your t papertrail by texting your friend. Something like: "Is you telling me I should take responsibility for him also telling me I should take ownership of him? Because his owner needs to take him to the vet immediately. Which I will do unless you tell me when you'll be picking him up to do that." It may not be necessary but it never hurts to get such things in writing. Good luck. 1.3
