This manager will have to be careful with her phrasing in the future. One of her employees decided to take her literally, and it cost the store time and money.
Managers have a lot to deal with on any given day on the job. When they step in the door to start their shift, they have to start the day by trying to get people to cover someone who's called out. Then, they might have to work the registers for a while and talk to customers with the most inane questions imaginable. In their down time, they can relax in the back office or hang with the other managers.
Some managers get along with their employees, too, while others prefer to stay aloof. The manager in this story was more concerned with bossing her workers around than she was with being friendly. The employee in this story didn't like her way of asking them to stay later, and they made her regret it later on. But you never know what's really going on behind the scenes---it's possible that the manager was having a stressful day already, and then had to deal with a very literal employee. It's not like this employee was wrong either, though: they just listened to exactly what their manager wanted.
Up next, check out some hilarious design fails, like one clock covered in a phrase that literally nobody can figure out the meaning of.
