One of the most iconic animated movies that came out when I was a kid was Ratatouille. As a kid, I watched it as innocently as you would expect from a 9-year-old, and I don't remember thinking there was anything weird with a rat cooking in a French restaurant. When the movie became popular in recent years with young adults, I suddenly realized how unhinged and bizarre that movie actually is. Seriously, this guy is being controlled by a rat sitting on top of his head and pulling strands of his hair, and together they cook in a Parisian restaurant and by the end of the movie, it is totally acceptable?? What? I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the pitch meeting over at Disney Studios and just listen to how this plot came to be.
