So you ARE in the wrong seat I'm travelling quite a bit again at the moment. I generally book plane rows 6 or 7 if I can as they're not too expensive but close enough to the front for convenience. Today I sat in 7D without really checking to be honest, I was in 7F on the way out and I can get a bit number blind, I had 7D in my head for the return.

A lady came along and suggested she was in our row, so I stood to let her in. She thought she had the aisle and I checked the letter on my pass,

blind to the row. Then I did notice I should have been in the row in front and told her. She said "Oh so you ARE in the wrong seat" as loud as she could, and almost climbed over me, while I tried to retrieve my bag from under the seat.

I'm now alone in row 6 while there are three people crammed in row 7. It's not revenge, but it's satisfying. I'm staying in my aisle seat with my extra hand luggage under the seat next to me and don't really feel like offering anyone the space. Happy summertime flying is on the way!!

    • TheDuraMaters 1 day ago I was sitting in the wrong seat on a train in Italy. Turns out I was sitting in the third class carriage when I'd booked a higher class. If the seat wasn't booked by someone else I would never have known! 950 Reply Share

BambooBrawler · 20 hr. ago I did the opposite. I was taking the train from Antwerp to Amsterdam for the first time and was super confused on their setup. I accidentally sat in the 1st class. Then conductor came and realized I was a stupid American and explained the seating/carriage classes to me and directed me to the right carriages. 211 Reply Share

ucanttaketheskyfrome. 1 day ago So unnecessary! Two weeks ago, when I found someone in my seat because they misread the row, I just said "no problem! I can just take yours." End of interaction. Why can't people be civil? 354 Reply Share

sheburn118 1 day ago People are in our seats all the time at ballparks and movie theaters. 98% of the time, they're apologetic and move quickly. Most say they weren't sure of the numbers, which isn't surprising since people can no longer fricken read. For the other 2%, we get the usher who straightens them out. 264 Reply Share ...

Camel Holocaust - 21 hr. ago This reminds me of a time in a movie theater. I usually sit in the top row and reserved my seat. I accidentally was in the wrong seat, but didn't notice until the woman who's seat I was in came and very rudely told me to move. I moved over to my spot and then her friends apparently showed up and were sitting on the other side of me, so I was sandwiched in.

They asked me if I could switch with them so they could sit next to their friend and I just had to say, "sorry this is my assigned seat" and looked over at the woman who was seething at me. She couldn't even argue, had she just been polite, or you know, booked the right seat, she could have been with her friends. 197 Reply Share

3lm1Ster 23 hr. ago. edited 21 hr. ago I am not a small person, (this is important) so I always book an aisle seat to give me a little more room. One flight I was on, a family had not paid attention when they booked their seats, and they were all separated. The flight attendants were asking people to trade seats so at least one adult was with each child. I agreed to take one of the kids seats, in the emergency exit row. I will never again sit there, unless I lose over half my body weight! These

FalconCommon7772. 20 hr. ago I once accidentally sat in the wrong seat on a super short haul flight (45 minutes) I had booked the aisle but accidentally sat in the window.

The girl whose seat I was in didn't tell me but instead proceeded to text her friend to complain about how she needed the window as she gets motion sick and couldn't believe someone had the audacity to take her seat. Obviously as she sat next to me I could see the texts, checked my ticket then asked if I was in her seat. She said yes but refuses to switch with me. I politely mentioned that it was an accident and in future to just tell the person.

The tension on that flight was insane and I was so thankful it was only 45 minutes as I could not imagine having to ask her to move so I could go to the washroom. This was 7 years ago and I often think about her and how she is getting through life if she couldn't even tell me I was in her seat.
