There's a big new apartment complex going up in the middle of the historic district of town where my SIL lives. It's ugly, loud, has entirely inadequate parking, and is generally hated by everyone who lives in the cute old houses around it.

My SIL mentioned today that her neighbor, a salty 85-year-old lady with an outsized personality, uses humane rat and mouse traps in the alley behind the corner grocery store and releases anything she finds at the new apartment complex. Don't let anyone tell you you're too old to do your part <3

ETA: I see a lot of replies saying she's an old boomer who hates poor people. This apartment complex is asking 2-3x the cost of a normal mortgage for this neighborhood, and isn't even helping the housing crisis because nobody's taking them up on it. Right now it's 90% empty and probably getting some corporate group a big tax write-off for "business losses."

BeautifulPhantom1 21 hr. ago Dang, there is a neighbor I would love to do that to after 16 years of harassment, but I'm hoping my son can buy the house when it goes on the market, so I'll refrain.

PVG100 19 hr. ago Well, in that case definitely do it because rodents lower the price of the house. +91 Reply Share LibraryMouse4321 . 19 hr. ago Yeah. You can get rid of them after you buy it cheap

SpicyTiger838.7 hr. ago What in the actual , people are saying this is classist? This woman is sticking it to the man. She has had a lovely home with a decent view and now she's staring at a garbage building where someone just wanted to make some cash and pollute her town with more city and obviously didn't give one single about the home owners nearby.

When These days no one gives a they can make a buck. It's rare and far between when you actually come in contact with a decent human being. That's why we take such note of it these days. It's special. Because it's rare. Go rat catcher!!! 85 and feisty!!

Pink Floyd_Chunes 19 hr. ago I did this. When I bought my house it came with quite a number of rats in the attic and garage. I trapped them (inhumanely), then they came back so I hired a professional abatement company to deal with ANY ingress

point that rats could enter the home. They have not been a problem since, and they did a very thorough job. It was not cheap, but it was very much worth the money. It is now a rental property and I have had zero problems since. Knock wood.

Anonymous0212.19 hr. ago OP given the assumptions people are making about the price and location of this place, you might want to edit in that it's not low rent housing for poor people in a poor neighborhood, if that's accurate.

WordWizardx OP 18 hr. ago Yeah, good point. I've never edited a post before so now I gotta go figure out how :-P 20 Reply Share wasd911 14 hr. ago But then the apartment owners will just kill the rodents. :( I feel bad for them.
