Doting Dog Owners Discuss What Fun Games Their Canines Love the Most

Hey, friends! Dogs, much like us humans, are totally unique creatures each with their own individual characteristics and preferences. There are some distinct differences between specific breeds in terms of energy levels, interest in playing, among others. Today we took some time out of our incredible busy schedules to shine some light on the adorable thread below. 

In this thread, the original poster, (OP) turns to the canine loving corner of the internet to determine what games other doggos like to play, and to understand a little bit behind the why. Anyway, as usual, the internet did not disappoint. Dog lovers gathered from near and far to contribute their own silly anecdotes and talk about their own precious pups. We love seeing dog parents come together to talk about their favorite things in the world, their dogs and behind dog parents. It's the wholesome goodness we didn't know we needed.

    Mine's favorite game is "Find It". He stays in a room while I have multiple small boxes that I hide around the house and only in one of them is a small treat. So he goes around finding and smelling each box, when he finds the right one, he lays down next to it and I lift up the box so he can get the treat.

    • watermelonkiwi 14d ago Edited 14d ago Mine's favorite is when I take half of a milk bone mini treat and wrap it up in a sock that I've cut a hole in the tip of, form it into the shape of a ball, and then throw it for him. He has to unravel the sock and fish the treat out. I often wrap multiple layers to make it more complex. Fun game for your dog and good use of old socks!

    BitersAndReprobates • 14d ago Mine has "invented" a couple of games he likes to play. 1) Hide the ball - he likes to take his ball and push it under this cupboard we have, he then tries to fish it out, or if it gets stuck he'll bark me over to rescue it, at which point I'm supposed to throw it. Repeat hundreds of times. 2) Ball Hockey - he holds another toy in his mouth, usually something he can swing like a stick or a big stuffy, he wants me to roll his ball to him and he whacks it back at me w

    Substantial_Scene38 • 14d ago Mine invented "Jawsies" where for some reason, when I settle in to my recliner with one leg crossed, he shoves his head under my uplifted knee so his snoot is poking up between my thighs. I am then expected to tickle his nose while he clacks his teeth at me. I have no idea why. But it makes me laugh....

It's a game where we take them to an open space with lots of bushes and greenery and then my husband I try and hide kind of far away from each other. Then they have to "find your dad" or "go get your mom." They basically just run between us as fast as they can, over and over lol. They lose their minds over this game and it exhausts them in like half an hour (they're shepherds so it usually takes wayyy longer than that).

    B PlantRetard • 14d ago My dogs favorite game is probably the one where he steals one of my slippers, while I put on my street shoes. He then proceeds to joyfully run away from me and hide under the kitchen table, where he then releases my slipper and runs off to get the second one. This is more fun for him than searching for treats or running after a thrown toy.

His gotten better at it with practice and can even get you around a corner sometimes. My other dog likes peekaboo, but I had to teach her to play with a blanket because she scratched my cornea, trying to cover my eyes with her paw. My Son's dog loves to play soccer with his ball.

    PHMEM8317 . 14d ago My dog also loves find it games! She also loves "How are ya?" Where she'll just give me each paw back to back endlessly lol. We also play "Peek-a-boo", which is where I hold up one of her blankets and she jumps and puts her front feet on the blank straight-legged to push the blanket down. We always do that game on her bed to avoid hurting her joints.

    BrodyMama • 14d ago Brody like find it too! But we call it "egg hunt" and put treats into plastic Easter eggs that he runs around and finds and then opens to gobble up the treat! He is so gentle that we've had the same 6 plastic eggs for the last three years!!

    Rhombico •14d ago I call it "blanket monster" - she brings her play blanket over to me on the couch, and I have to hide under it while she tries to attack the blanket and get it off me, or find a way to sneak her snout around the blanket and "find me" under there
