'They refuse to acknowledge the marriage': Parents shun son's wife because they eloped in Vegas, gets banned from their grandkid's birthday party until they accept her

Eloping can be a dangerous game. If you decide to marry someone you met approximately three days ago, Kim Kardashian style, at a chapel in Vegas, don't be surprised if you're googling "annulment" three days later. That is what most people think of when "eloping" comes to mind, but it's the exception, not the rule to the practice. Most people elope to save money or avoid the stress of planning a full-blown wedding. They also might want their union under the law to be private, without pushy family members making it all about them. 

One eldest sister posted on Reddit about a wild situation regarding her younger brother and his girlfriend eloping. For some unexplained reason, multiple family members are shunning his new bride, seemingly solely because they eloped. When his older sister didn't conform to this shunning, the conflict escalated further, making her a new object of their unnecessary derision.
