Want to go on holiday but have a pet? But don't want to leave them with friends, family or at the kettle?
Then the solution is getting a trusted pet sitter!
Animal Lover Emma Higgins, is 29 years old and has saved thousands of pounds (english currency) in living costs by offering her special live-in pet sitting services.
For almost 3 years now, Emma has driven more than 5,000 miles and travelled to/from 15 different homes across the UK and even Portugal.
How does she do it?
She offers her service for no money, in exchange she takes care of their pets while they go on holiday. Along side being a pet sitter, she also works on editing her website "Gotta Keep Movin'" and even sells travel pieces to online magazines.
She first got the idea from friends and decided to use the Brighton based online business, TrustedHouseSitters.
Emma says that every trip is different, yet she still remembers her first experience because she was given a 10 oage list of instructions on how to look after a pair of cats. But she didn't, mind saying "the more they write, the better"
Her house sits usually last for a week or two, however sometimes it can be a lot longer. Like her stay at a Portuguese rural home last year. Where she stayed for 5 months.
Does it get lonely? Higgins says "I'm a bit lost when I don't have animals around me and because I work from home they keep me company quite a lot."
Higgins has also meet her now boyfriend, Mike Gallagher, when she was house-sitting in the Algarve region of Portugal.
The two now house sit together. (Romantic!)
When asked if she would stop anytime soon, Emma responded "It's a risk, house-sitting, going out of your convenient bubble of working 9-5 job, (since taking care of an animal is a full time task) but I cannot imagine living any other way now."
