Usually the advice that is given when faced with a terrible boss is that you should go and find a new job, which is heartbreaking when you loved your workplace and the people you previously worked with before their arrival. But, although it's more difficult to accomplish, there lies a secret second option: Instead of removing yourself from the situation, remove the problem itself. Of course, this doesn't work if the leadership structure is rotten to it's core, but if you trust the leadership above your immediate cause of concern, they may be interested to find out what's going on in their organization. You can document specific issues and utilize policy that is being broken as evidence, all while not stooping to your boss's level and maintaining an aura of professionally that will maintain leaderships of you as a trustworthy and reasonable source. That's essentially what this worker did when they decided to take their terrible new boss head on.
