'I think this cat likes me': Dad Who 'Always Hated Cats' Sends His Daughter Completely Smitten Texts And Pics Of the Kitty

Oh, it happens every single time. For some reasons, dads constantly claim to hate cats, even though they totally don't. They just don't know it yet. All it takes… is meeting the right cat. Suddenly that dad who hated cats is in love with the new kitten. Suddenly, that same dad is sending endless cute cat pics in the family group chat. And we, as a consequence, have collections upon collection of wholesome posts of dads and the cats they didn't want. 

That dad is smitten without even knowing it. Or maybe they do know. Maybe they know that they've been converted into cat people, and they're simply keeping up the pretense that they haven't. That's the only thing that can explain why they keep denying their love for these cats, even though it is as real as the sky being blue.

    Dads can pretend all they like that they don't actually love cats, but we see through it. It's not in the words, it's in the actions. And a dad whose actions are sending endless texts about how fun it is to hang out with that cat that they don't love is a dad who lies about not loving the cat.

    But that's okay. We'll let dads have their moment. We we let them continue to lie to themselves and others if it means that they can express their love for these cats without their needless shame. We will do that. We'll go along. And their love will only flourish.

    My dad has hated cats all of my life and swore up and down that he would never let another cat in this house after our last one passed away. Now, he calls my cat "putty-tat," tells me how sweet she is and how much he likes her. Every time he sees her, he goes "hey puds!" and starts petting her lol.

She didn't have a chip and I scoured several lost pet forums for a month to see if someone was missing her, but no one ever posted about her. I've had her since December, the only reason my dad originally let me have her is because she had nowhere else to go
