You have to get bored to get your imagination to work.
Kids are lucky that their only plight in life is being bored. One time I was SO bored as a kid growing up in the ‘90s that I wrote my own "Last Will & Testament" because I was “dying of boredom” and gave it to my family. My brother got the whole $18 I had saved up, it was very touching. That being said, because of that boredom my imagination grew. I did arts and crafts, went on adventures in the backyard, made up silly little songs, and more. The kids today have their tablets and cell phones, so it's harder to give them space to let their minds wander, but it should be encouraged.
