Marvel Rivals' Next Update Brings the Other Half of the Fantastic Four—And NO Rank Reset!

What Else Is Coming in the Update?

This update isn’t just about new characters—there are major changes coming to ranked play, including a major U-turn from NetEase after intense player backlash:

🔥 Rank Reset—Canceled! – Originally, NetEase announced a mid-season rank reset, dropping all players four divisions on February 21st. The community was not happy—ranking up takes serious effort, and knowing progress would be wiped twice per season didn’t sit well. After enormous pushback, NetEase completely scrapped the mid-season reset. Players will now retain their ranks and scores from the first half of the season.

🔥 Competitive Rewards Are Still Happening – Even though ranks won’t reset, players who reach Gold, Grandmaster, or One Above All will still receive rewards on February 21st. To claim them, all you have to do is play 10 competitive matches by the end of the season. Rewards include:

  • A new Gold rank-exclusive costume
  • Crests of Honor for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All ranks

🔥 Division Resets Still Happen at the Start of Each Season – While the mid-season reset is gone, NetEase is keeping the seasonal reset, meaning everyone will still drop six divisions when a new season begins.

What About Human Torch and The Thing?

Via Marvel Rivals

As of now, official gameplay details on Ben and Johnny are slim, but we do know that Human Torch will have a team-up ability with Storm (which kinda makes sense). Some leaks have hinted at alternate skins, and I really hope we see:

  • The Thing’s ’90s metal helmet look
  • A movie cross over skin
  • Human Torch’s Herald of Galactus form (make it happen, NetEase!)

Fantastic Timing for the Fantastic Four

With a new Fantastic Four movie dropping later this year, it’s the perfect time to bring the entire team to Marvel Rivals. Interest in Marvel’s First Family is at an all-time high, so let’s hope NetEase does Johnny and Ben justice.

Until then, I can't wait to hear “Flame On!” and “It's Clobberin’ Time!” 50 times every match.
