When will it end? This absolutely insane climb of companies completely taking control of society? We can't afford rent or groceries, and yet the billionaires who raise the prices of their goods and services for no reason blame us. Like, it's our fault that they “had” to raise their prices, and yet, they keep making “record profits.” Like, we're headed towards living in a dystopia? No way, babe, we're already living it.
And now we have Daniel Ek, the CEO of Spotify, announcing yet another price increase for the streaming service—a 20% increase over the past two years. What for? Literally no reason… Nothing is being improved. He says it's for improvement, but not improvement in sound quality or how they pay the artists… To upset artists even more, Ek posted a tweet that went on to call the art of music making “content” and that it “cost close to zero” to make. So, the internet did what it does beset, and memeified the moment while letting off some steam to the continuously frustrating situation.
