Got a job at a theater, the job description said they had flexible hours, which works for me because my transportation can only get me to places at certain times. At the Job interview, they had me write down times that'd be the best for me to work. The times and days I

day from 5:00-11:00. I make sure to remind them that I can't work past 10:00. One of the managers says "that's fine, nobody actually stays until 11:00 anyways, it's just so corporate doesn't bother them."

Two days ago, I'm scheduled from 5:15-9:15. My shift is over, so I go to clock out. A different manager walks by and says I don't leave until 11:00. I respond by saying my schedule says I work until 9:15. The manger I

to stay until 11:00. I say, No. My schedule that they sent me says 9:15. He says the schedule doesn't determine when I get off work, they do. I say the other manager told me it was fine. He asks which one, I tell him, he goes to talk with that

manager and they call me back to the office. They say the accommodations they're making for me and the hours I can work aren't what they need, so if I can't work until 11:00 today, they're gonna let me go. I say no.

So I have no job now. (Just for the record, the theater was slowing down extremely at the end of my shift anyways, at least compared to when I got there.)

laughwithesinners • 17h ago A former roommate of mine was often scheduled to work pretty late in a seedy part of the city so he told them he wanted a taxi voucher if they were going to keep scheduling him after the last bus which left at midnight. They actually agreed because this was a pretty job anyways and he was the only reliable worker who didn't call in sick or quit on the spot.

aw_shux •18h ago They said they offer flexible hours. What they didn't say was that they were flexible for them, not you.

Steamedcarpet • 19h ago Lowes did something like this to me. I took a second job at lowes for what should be 6-10. The person who hired me agree to it. They didn't contact me for 2 weeks until finally they call. The woman tells me that they are having trouble fitting me into the schedule and I had to work 6-11. I brought up that this isn't what was agreed upon. She said this is the only schedule they have. I refused ands how I lost my job at Lowes before starting.

emeraldead 18h ago I got unemployment from a pt movie theater job- I said I could work any day BUT Monday. They put me only on Monday. I don't know if they were pushing me out or what. It took awhile because my case worker was being flaky but consistent calling with clear stories and bam- they didn't have to pay one shift, they had to pay weeks of regular PT pay. Don't let jobs push you. Even if you have to accept it for awhile you get out as soon as you can.

greenmachine11235 • 18h ago Google reviews and other public facing venues are a great place to air grievances like these if you have no intent of working there again or using them as a reference. For added bonus be sure to name each of the managers so on the off chance corporate looks at it the lands exactly where it's needed.

hurtstoskinnybatman • 17h ago Good. File for unemployment today. You'll get paid at a rate of 60% of what it made over the past year while you apply for jobs. You'll find a better employer who respects you.

KidenStormsoarer . 16h ago So you gave them your availability, they ignored it, flat out told you they won't accommodate your disability despite it being agreed to upon hiring, and now fired you because you are physically unable to work without that very reasonable accommodation? Yeah, you should be talking to a discrimination lawyer
