'An Alaskan Croissant Dog': Seattle Animal Shelter Makes Up the Silliest Pretend Breeds to Market Their Dogs, Goes Viral

• We have all heard of Labrador Retrievers, Pit Bulls, and Chihuahuas. But have you heard of the elusive Appalachian Pogo dog? Or the Colombian Pocket Squirrel? These are definitely very real and very rare dog breeds that are extremely desirable for anyone looking for a high society purebred dog. Okay, okay, these are made up, but aren't they adorable? Don't you want a pocket squirrel?! They were made up by the Seattle Animal Shelter to help market their dogs up for adoption and foster. Some of these dogs might not get a second glance, but now with the fancy new “purebred” title, they're getting much more attention. 

  “[I] really had to break out my dog breed encyclopedia for this one,” the shelter's content creator says. The video has since gone viral and dog people are loving it. One veterinarian commented, “as a veterinarian i can confirm these breeds are all accurate and super rare so good on you for recognizing them.” “LOVE LOVE LOVE these exotic breeds,” another viewer wrote.
