Greetings, Potterheads! We likely all remember picking up a copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the first time. Compared to the previous three books, which are all of a comparable size, the fourth installment of the series can seem like quite the daunting behemoth. It also marks a massive shift in the tone of the series, as with Cedric's death and Voldemort's return, the books become darker and more serious. One could say that the books mature along with Harry, and many of us that grew up reading the books did as well. Despite this tonal shift, there is still lots of magic, whimsy, and adventure between the pages of the book covers-- covers that we will be checking out today!
Many of the Prisoner of Azkaban book covers featured hippogriffs, Chamber of Secrets covers were full of big snakes, and this book is heavy on the dragons. With the Triwizard Tournament being the main plot device and setting, it's no surprise that all three of its events are a popular choice for illustrators. Despite reoccurring motifs, each version is a unique and interesting representation of the beloved novel. I wonder which one Madame Pince would keep in the Hogwarts library.
