When you start dating someone new, there are a few questions you can ask them in order to detect some red flags that can help you determine whether you want to date that person or not. The questions can be – What is your relationship like with your mom or what was your previous partner like? But there is one question that you should never ever skip when getting to know someone, and that question may as well determine your entire relationship with that person.

We, of course, are talking about the question – Were Ross and Rachel on a break? 

There are a couple of answers that you should accept from your date. The first, is obviously, 'No they were not on a break' and the second is 'They were on a break, but that doesn't justify what Ross has done'. The answers that definitely raise a red flag, are either a – 'No they were not on a break, and Ross did nothing wrong', and the worst answer of them all is – 'Sorry, I haven't watched Friends'. Instantly break up.
