Let's be real - people get dogs because they want attention. But people who get cats, get them for all sorts of reasons. Some seem to have the cat distribution system on speed dial, some want companionship, and others just want to have a tiny cute criminal in their house, committing all sorts of adorable acts. Whatever your reason, though, we're glad you drank the Kool-Aid and are now a part of the feline family. 

Purrsonally, we adopted our cats because we wanted to be able to travel, but still have someone at home waiting for us to come home to. You can't do that with a dog. We found a pawsitively wholesome thread on Reddit where users let the wholesome cat out of the bag on what their #1 reason is for owning a cat, and the answers are just purrfect.     I've learned that I'm quite incapable of protecting myself from random attacks while using the bathroom. Since I take bathroom security extremely seriously, as you all should, a cat was obviously necessary to stand guard during my most vulnerable moments. What's your reason?

    If there is one thing our cats are good at, it's eating cheese. They are Munster maniacs. Cheddar carnivores. Gouda gulpers. You get the picture. How else would we eat so much cheese without them?

    One of our cats is a lifeguard cat. She watches over us every time we shower - screaming the whole time. It's actually quite relaxing. Like a choir of meows as the soundtrack to our shower symphony.

    MusicalMoose · 3 hr. ago I.....don't even want my cat. He moved in and when I tried to shoo him out, he threatened me with a knife. I feed him 3 times a day, or else. If I don't share what I'm eating with him, he hits me in the face with his paw, then he purrs and licks my nose. If I don't wake up and open the front door for him every morning at 6 AM, he bites my toes, and then when I open the door he looks at me and walks away. Send help.

    Gotmlk23 2 hr. ago • Life is never boring! My neighbor's cat had given birth to a kitten 6+ weeks ago and she brought the kitten by to look at and pet. When I moved to hand the kitten back, my neighbor declared that she couldn't take it back and would I find a home for the kitten.

    In shock from that, I brought the kitten inside and set her down on the living room floor. My cat did not hesitate, came over and picked her up, put her on the couch and started cleaning her. From then until her passing, I had a cat and my cat had a cat.
