Gen X was raised by 80s movies. Since we were all latchkey kids and our parents worked all, we had to do our homework when it came to the laws of society. And a Gen X kid's favorite 80s movie said a lot about how they might turn out as an adult. It's no science, but those of us who loved Ferris Bueller's Day Off probably skipped class a few times. Neverending Story kids are generally traumatized. And Pretty in Pink kids lived for the clique of friends from high school. Don't even get me started on the Footloose…

Apart from the iconic soundtracks, epic storylines, and relatable stories, the movies of the 80s brought an entire generation into adulthood pretty successfully. Although Gen X's parents had no idea where they were all day, this kind of independence forced them to cultivate a few key personality traits. Gen X is self-sufficient, resilient, dark-humored, and probably has a secret stash of dance moves up their sleeves.
