I've always dreamed of attending a mixer at one of those exclusive Ivy League clubs with big fancy paintings, people wearing Oxford shoes, and everyone swilling martinis. But in reality, those would probably be pretty boring. Nobody would bust a sick move on the dance floor. They'd be busy being stuffy and inaccessible. The halls of fanciness are elusive by design. They want us to wonder what goes on inside the highest echelons of society but they don't want us to know the details.
Shows like Succession show us what billionaires might be up to behind closed doors, and shows like Downton Abbey give an insight into how stately British people behaved once upon a time. But until we live it, we may never know. Guess we'll just have to throw our own fancy party, with memes and good times. It'll be just as good, if not better, than anything attended by a royal.
