No matter what genre you are reading – fantasy, romance, drama, or sci-fi, a good book needs to have some sort comedic relief. Usually, it comes in the form of a funny sidekick or a quirky main character, and their success in making the readers laugh depends on how witty and funny the author really is.

You can say a lot of things about J.K Rowling's writing, but she knew how to deliver the funny moments in Harry Potter, and you never knew from which character in the book to expect it. Some of the funny moments came, of course, from Harry, Ron, and Hermione, but some hilarious gems came from unexpected people like Dumbledore, McGonagall, Vernon, and Arthur Weasley. So although Harry Potter as a book is definitely not a comedy, you cannot help but chuckle every few pages because of some riddikulusly hilarious treasure.
